Yin Yoga - what is it good for?

Yin yoga is a calm and peaceful form of yoga that focuses on stretching and strengthening the connective tissue in the body, especially around joints and ligaments. Unlike more dynamic yoga styles, such as Vinyasa or Power Yoga, positions in yin yoga are held for a longer period of time, usually between three and five minutes or longer. The aim is to slowly and gradually stretch the connective tissue to increase flexibility and reduce tension in the body.

Yin yoga is usually performed using passive positions done sitting or lying on the floor, and various aids such as blocks, pillows or blankets are often used to support the body and allow relaxation in the positions. During the yin yoga class, one also focuses on deep and conscious breathing to help release tension and increase presence in the body and mind. In addition to increasing flexibility, yin yoga can also help promote a sense of inner peace and tranquility as well as reduce stress and anxiety🧘🏻‍♀️
